Some years ago I studied A-Levels in electronic engineering, which covered microelectronics, PCB design and prototyping, assembler programming, C++ and Pascal development, and PLC systems. So I’ve started off with a reasonable background in the tech stuff.
Since then I’ve held several ICT-related jobs in the past, one of them involving the installation and operation of IP, VHF and data radio comms networks. Later I established a small-scale ISP, which was more recently used for experimenting with various hosted services. Essentially I’m something of a hacker with a particular interest in the Linux OS, creating and experimenting with stuff, and campaining for everyone’s rights to security, privacy and free expression.

Currently I’m studying BSc Information Security, which covers:
* Security Management
* Digital Forensics
* Local and Wide Area Networking, and Network Security
* Cryptography
* Software Development (C++, and Visual Basicl)
* Systems Administration
* Project Management (mainly PRINCE2)
* Legal Stuff
* Penetration Testing
